Wordless Wednesday #48: Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. White!

Not completely wordless this week. For those who follow my tweets, you may know that I was at the wedding of my good friend this past weekend. It was a beautiful day, and I'd just like to say congratulations to my friends! I'm so happy for them! Don't they make a beautiful couple below?

It wasn't my intention to take pictures of the dinner, sitting at the head table and all, but they turned to me and asked if I was going to take pictures and put them up. So here they are... Quite good for a wedding, I must admit. That chocolate mousse dessert was divine, although I couldn't finish it because I was so full by that point! And I never did make my way to the midnight buffet table. Congratulations again to the happy couple!)

Rhubarb, Where Have You Been All My Life?

Sad, but true. I've never had much rhubarb in my life until now. And now I'm desperately trying to catch up to lost time.

Rhubarb is not a common ingredient in Chinese cooking (frankly, non-existent), so I was never introduced to it as a child. And I guess I never had really good rhubarb going into my adulthood because nothing really stood out in my mind (or to my tastebuds). But this year, I haven't been able to stock up on the stuff. Each week at the farmer's markets, I would pick up two large bunches of the ruby-red stalks.

Lovely Jubbly Time at the Dish Cooking Studio

About two weeks ago, I went to check out the Dish Cooking Studio with my friend Suzanne. I happened across one of those group discounts in my email and sent it along to Suz, thinking it would be fun to spend a night cooking in the same kitchen. Before we knew it, we had signed up.

Rather than a cooking school, Dish describes itself as “a culinary destination for people to connect and have fun together.” If you're looking to pick up some kitchen skills, you're probably better off at, say, George Brown. Not to say that Dish probably won't walk you through some of the basics. It's just that their aim isn't to make a chef out of you. It's to ensure that you have a good time cooking in the kitchen, meeting new people, and enjoying a great meal at the end of it all.
